The Story Behind
Ikigai Cases
Our reason for creating Ikigai Cases was a very personal one. In 2008 our father was diagnosed with CIDP, a rare neurological disease that inhibits your movement and can even leave you paralyzed.
In the next years, we watched our father go through every issue imaginable with his pill containers. Breaking, spilling, accidentally opening constantly. Handling a flimsy plastic pill box is already a hassle, and even more so when your hands aren’t working very well due to his disease.
We tried every pill case we could find. Unfortunately, none worked for him.
In 2021, after watching our dad suffer plastic cases for years, we finally had enough. We wanted to give him a pill case that is durable, easy to use, never spills, and looks good on top of it.
That’s how Ikigai Cases was born.

I am having trouble finding my size. What size should I get?
Use the Find Your Size page to find the case that works best for you! There are photos of cases filled with different sized pills there so you can estimate what size you need.
If you'd like to send us a photo of your daily routine, we can also guess-timate the size you need using that photo. Just send it to us at tavish@ikigaicases.com.
Lastly, our perfect fit guarantee means you can exchange your case if you do happen to find out the size wasn't quite right. We'll even redo the engravings for you, free of charge. It's just part of our promise to make sure you absolutely love your Ikigai Cases!
Do you offer rush shipping? (Hint: Yes)
Yes. Rush shipping is UPS 2nd Day Air and UPS Next Day Air Saver, and rush processing is USPS Priority Mail. Order any of those by NOON EASTERN and it ships the same business day. After noon eastern, it ships the next business day.
Normal orders get engraved and shipped in the order that they came in. Our goal is to ship them within 3 business days.

Can I put them in my carry-on bag while flying? (Hint: Yes)
Yes! Pill organizers are 100% approved by the TSA for air travel as stated on the TSA.gov website, just place your Ikigai Cases inside your toiletry bag.

How does the sliding lid stay closed?
Ikigai Cases use a patented lid design that will never accidentally open or spill in your bag.
A spring loaded ball built into the base pushes up into a divot in the bottom of the lid keeping the lid securely closed.
When you’re ready to open your case, just push down on the traction pad area of the lid and slide the case open.
The lid will click into place at each pocket as it slides open. This makes it super easy to dump single pockets out while holding the case with just one hand.
How are engravings applied to the pill cases?
For Lid Engravings, we use CNC machines to engrave text onto the lids.
For Days of the Week (In Pocket Engravings), we use a fiber laser engraving machine to engrave the lettering inside the pockets.
The engravings are not stickers. They are not painted, sprayed, or laser marked on the cases. All of those ways to put temporary markings on a pill case wear off over time.
The engraving methods we chose are to make the engravings permanent - so they last as long as your case will.
We dealt with the pain of having markings wear off on plastic pill organizers for too many years. There was no way we were going to design our cases that way.

What great pill cases! I had never used pill cases before, but after I bought a set of IKIGAI cases for my wife and saw how much easier it was for her I bought mine. The cases are well made, easy to use, and make my life easier!

Beautiful, tactile case that evokes a Denis Villeneuve genre film, or perhaps something designed in a galaxy far, far away. (Note that this has a bit more heft compared to the standard aluminum cases, so I think for me this is more of a desk bijou.) From right to left: Nano pill in stainless (smallest); Nano vitamin in titanium (middle); Weekly pill case in Aluminum (largest of the three shown). Stainless is the most reflective and has a subtly striated look to the finish (they all feel quite smooth). Titanium looks brushed and matte; aluminum has a satiny look to it compared to the other two.
I was curious what a titanium Ikigai case would be like, and was delighted to see how it turned out! It has a very subtle, minimalist feel - a brushed, almost soft finish. (In the vid, titanium is the center case - Nano Vitamin - compared to the larger Weekly Pill case in Aluminum, on the left, and the smaller Nano Pill case in stainless on the right.) I love the sort of mottled surface: it reminds me of raku pottery or a tumbled pebble on the beach. Do note that it's slightly denser than the standard aluminum that Ikigai uses for most of its cases (stainless is the heftiest of the three materials). I could totally see this as part of a designer's EDC - a modern-day netsuke or high-end fidget. Think leathered granite or polished driftwood.

This color blue is gorgeous, for anyone on the fence about it! I had this funny scene in my head while I was getting ready to write up the review- I can see one of the investors on Shark Tank saying “it’s an amazing product but how many pill cases does one need? I’m out.” And yet…. I’m wondering what else I can put in these because they are just so satisfying to open and close and such a great organizational tool. Can we get giant Ikigai cases? :-P in all seriousness, I have a small mission or nano in each of my work bags (different jobs need different equipment) for Tylenol etc, and a mission vitamin in my purse for every day meds. Cannot recommend them highly enough!

This is my third pill case I’ve bought from Ikigai, and it’s fantastic. Feels heavy in a great way, will clearly last longer than me, and just the right size. Only negative is that the mission case doesn’t seem to have the same sliding smoothness as my weekly case. Not sure why but it just doesn’t. Definitely not a dealbreaker, but just something I noted. Spending almost $100 on a pill case seems crazy until you interact with it, which you do twice a day hopefully for many many years to come. So I find it worth it.
These are amazing cases. They are really cool to look at. They are strong as heck. And holds lots of pills. I ordered two for myself, both monogrammed to match my car's personalized license plates! Yup, I'm corny like that... I'm the Homeman! These cases just vacationed with me for two weeks and traveled to Greece and Türkiye. No problems with any airport security. These are so worth the price. Love it!
